Kynan's crossbow

A very nice 'western' crossbow. This one is using the mahogany stain on cherry wood, and topped off with a couple of coats of Danish oil.  I am really liking this combination, as it very closely approximates the look of a hundred years of pitch and beeswax.

It pulls 87 pounds at 10.5 inches for an energy rating of 914 ips and shoots very smoothly.

The extra knotting on the string (visible in the last photo) is an extra length of dacron braid tied on the string to protect the center serving. I'm adding a length of the same cord with the delivery, so that it can be replaced when it wears out. No special tools are needed; just tie a new one on when the time comes.
